Dr. Jan P L Brokx
Consultant and Clinical Audiologist
University Hospital Antwerp (Belgium) and University Hospital Maastricht (The Netherlands)
J. Brokx studied physics at the Technical University Eindhoven in the Netherlands. For his PhD in 1979 he wrote a study about the influence of pitch on the perceptual integration of sounds in speech.
Between 1982 and 1988 he was clinical audiologist at the Children’s Hearing Assessment Centre of the University Hospital Nijmegen. During this time he was involved in the setting up of a cochlear implant team together with the Institute for the Deaf in St. Michielsgestel.
Between 1988 and 2002 he was head of the Audiological Centre of the Institute of the Deaf and the cooperating Cochlear Implant team from the University Hospital Nijmegen and the Institute for the Deaf.
Since 2000 he has been consultant at the University Hospital Antwerp in Belgium.
From 2002 J. Brokx has been clinical audiologist for the University Hospital Maastricht with special attention to neonatal audiology and the application of cochlear implants in children.
