Organisation Details
Established in October 2002, IDCS is the international wing of The National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS). Our principles are rooted in the Vision and Values of NDCS.
With parental involvement and a commitment to Informed Choice at the heart of our work, we aim to:
- support the development of good models of practice in service delivery and encourage the development of high quality, accessible and sustainable services
- support the empowerment of parents of deaf children to advocate for more accessible and sustainable services
- influence development practitioners and policy makers to address the needs of deaf children, young people and their parents.
IDCS has developed a twin-track approach to achieve these aims. This combines a commitment to sharing information with the development of partnerships. Current initiatives include our Small Grants Programme (SGP), an in-country programme in India and a major online, global forum dedicated to childhood deafness at www.idcs.info
The website contains case studies and articles written by professionals and individuals, comprehensive details of hundreds of organisations working in the field of deafness across the world, along with further information about all our current programmes.
