Organisation Details
Barnplantorna is a parent organization and represents children with cochlear implants. We work nationally and locally. Barnplantorna is divided into five local organizations working socially, organizing local meetings and establishing contact between parents.
Barnplantorna organizes courses for parents as well as professionals. Annually we organize a national conference in cooperation with the cochlear implant clinics in Sweden. Our parent courses have taken place in cooperation with The Ear Foundation in Nottingham, UK.
Barnplantorna organizes a summer course for families for a whole week every second year.
Barnplantorna takes part in a cooperation between other organizations within the field of deafness nationally as well as internationally. We are trying to do political work advocating for cochlear implanted children’s right up on the Swedish Government concerning preschool/school issues as well as habilitation and technical issues.
Barnplantorna distributes a newsletter – BARNPLANTABLADET – all over Scandinavia twice a year.
Barnplantorna is a member of EURO-CIU.
Barnplantorna participates in international conferences every year to follow the development within speech perception/production, bilateral implantations, technical development and other important issues concerning paediatric cochlear implantations.
We believe in worldwide cooperation between organizations, cochlear implant clinics, manufacturers to secure that every child with a cochlear implant gets the best support in preschool/school and habilitation and is provided with the best technique (processor, FM-system etc.).
We believe in cooperation internationally to ensure that parents get the best support to support the child in developing language skills and support the child to become a strong, self-confident person to be able to advocate for himself/herself as an adult integrated in society.
