The PIP Programa Infantil Phonak – Phonak Paediatric Program – was created in Spain in 2002, with the main purpose of improving diagnosis and habilitation of hearing impaired children through an interdisciplinary approach.
The PIP Program develops three kinds of activities:
- Scientific activities: promoting research in technical, professional and social issues related with hearing loss in children.
- Divulgation activities: organizing social events, collaborating with public institutions and parents associations, publishing newsletters and educational materials for parents and professionals, appearing in the media, promoting interdisciplinary working groups, etc.
- Formative activities: running courses for parents and professionals about technical, therapeutic and educational aspects of hearing loss.
The PIP has also developed an FM Loan Service in order to give hearing impaired children and their families the opportunity to try the benefits of FM technology.
The PIP’s mission is to maximize the use of hearing technology in children in order to help them to communicate through listening and spoken language, based on best practices and family-centred intervention programs.
