Organisation Details

The Luxembourgian Association of Cochlear Implant users was founded in December 1996 by parents of CI-children, adult CI-users and professionals who are directly concerned with cochlear implants. In Luxembourg there are 33 CI-users (16 adults and 17 children).

  • LACI’s first aim is to provide information about cochlear implants and to assist the families that are concerned. As the surgery isn’t provided in Luxemburg, people have to go to Germany or Belgium to be implanted. The association tries to pass on as much information as possible in order to make the stay in the foreign hospital easier.
  • LACI organizes twice a year a rehabilitation weekend for adult CI-users. Once a year the association arranges a workshop for the CI-children and their siblings as well as an information meeting for their families.
  • LACI works together with the associations for deaf and hard of hearing people in order to make the public aware of the problems of people with a hearing impairment.
